What To Expect At Your First Appointment

What will happen during my first visit?
On your first visit to our office, please arrive about 10 minutes early so that you have time to fill out our New Patient and Health History forms. Alternatively, you can complete our New Patient Form online before your first appointment.
While you wait for your appointment to begin, you can relax in our waiting area where you'll find lots of reading materials and comfortable seating. We also have a play area if you are bringing your children.
Your first appointment will be approximately 90 minutes long. Your dentist will begin by talking to you about your oral health needs and health history. Based on this conversation and a thorough dental exam, your dentist will develop a long-term dental treatment plan just for you.
Your comprehensive examination will include an oral cancer screening, a full-mouth series of X-rays, photos, and a thorough exam of your gums, teeth, bite and jaw.
Throughout your appointment, your dentist or hygienist will take the time to answer your questions about your dental health and treatment options.

How can I book an appointment?
To book an appointment with us, please contact our office during our regular business hours. If you like, you can also book your next appointment while you're here at the office.
If you experience a dental emergency, please call us right away and we'll make every effort to see you as soon as possible.
How do I cancel or reschedule an appointment?
To cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call us or visit us in person, rather than emailing. Please let us know as soon as possible, so we can open up the space in our schedule for another patient.
Do you offer appointment reminders?
In the days before your appointment, you will receive an automated appointment reminder from us by either phone or email.

How does Pickering Smiles deal with insurance billing?
At Pickering Smiles, we can submit your claim to your insurance company on your behalf.
On your first appointment, please be sure to bring your benefit information with you to increase the chances that you'll be reimbursed in a timely manner.
