LANAP (laser- assisted new attachment procedure) is a therapy designed for the effective treatment of periodontitis  (gum disease), through regeneration (regrowth) rather than resection (surgical removal) of gum tissue. The laser energy selectively removes diseased pocket tissue without affecting the underlying connective tissue, thereby permitting healing and regrowth.
